The Value of Your Good eBay Reputation.

Your good reputation is your most valuable asset on eBay - without it, you're nothing. Your reputation precedes your sale and remains in cyberspace long after the product you are selling.

Consider your own behaviour when you have purchased a product from eBay in the past. Buying from a seller who was not well known or who gained a low feedback rating made the alarm bells ring in your conscience and you may have been sceptical and insecure to purchase from this person. On the other hand, buying from a PowerSeller with their strong reputation instilled calmness about the sale, not fear as the transaction was like visiting a shop.

A Bad or Poor Reputation Will Lose Sales and Clients.

A bad reputation will scare consumers and almost all your sales will be lost. Any negative feedback from a potential client will cause pain immediately, as that rating will escalate to the first few lines of your user page and it will be displayed for everyone to see. Few people will want to do business with you when they've just read negative feedback such as long delivery or poor communication or shocking after sales service.

In order to push these remarks further down the page if the hope that nobody sees the comments, you will have to sell a few cheap items. The ensuing days or even weeks selling cheap stuff will hopefully generate enough positive feedback to restore your reputation and encourage future transactions.

Consistent negative feedback is the worst and once you get below 90% positive ratings, there is little hope of restoring your reputation you might as well be invisible.

You Can't(legitimitely anyway) Simply Open a New eBay Account.

Apart from eBay's rules that users can only have one account, there are far more considerations to simply getting a new account. You have to start all over again and go through the same procedures and avoid the same mistakes.

Disadvantages include not being able to use all eBay features and losing existing customer who won't be able to find you with your new account. Low feedback rating will result in auctions finishing at a lower price and less profit being generated. Opening a new account on eBay can be compared to moving to a new town to get away from your past. Its equivalent to "throwing out the baby with the bathwater".

Great Feddback and Reputation Will Generate More Sales

When PowerSellers say something about a product, people on eBay tend to trust them. They can be selling an unlikely item, but if they believe in it, the rest of the buyers will believe their guarantee and take their word for it. These PowerSellers will not risk their reputation. This is an illustration of a good reputation and people will go to extraordinary lengths to save their reputation.

Many people would rather spend an extra $5 on an item from a reputable seller than buy the same product cheaper from a new seller with average feedback. It's worth the extra money to have peace of mind knowing they are buying from an experienced seller who has all their systems in place and will deliver a good quality product quickly and efficiently.

Selling on eBay is easier with a good reputation that is earned through constantly striving for happy customers. Although some clients can be difficult to please, it is worth striving to satisfy everybody. In the next video, we ask: Are The eBay Auction Customers Always Right?
