Obviously illegal things like drugs, pyramid schemes or stolen goods may not be sold on eBay. Most items on the list are named because there is law against selling it. Delving deeper, some of the reasons are slightly strange such as the 'autographed items' entry. It doesn't mean that you can't sell anything that's been autographed, but it has a condition that this autographed items can only be sold if it comes with a certificate of authenticity.
The 'artifacts' entry prohibits the seller from selling Native American graves and the 'embargoed goods' prohibits the seller from selling anything that comes from Cuba. Selling unauthorised pictures of celebrities is banned under the 'celebrity material' listing and there are other examples that explain these prohibitions.
If you are anxious because your chosen kind of item may be on the list, and this will prevent you from selling, be safe before you are sorry by checking the full list at http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/items-ov.html. You will soon assess whether the item is banned entirely or there are just a few restrictions that will make the sale possible.
eBay states that it reserves the right to remove any items that may violate copyright law, but there is not enough manpower to monitor the site. Generally your auction item will mainly get removed if someone reports you and this may not lead to expulsion.
Trading on eBay can feel more complicated after reading the rules surrounding it, but these technicalities can be understood better once the jargon is mastered. Our next video is a 'jargon translator', which will help with learning the language of eBay.
